Reimagining India's Multifaceted Heritage
Since its independence in 1947, India has continued to build on a cultural lineage that dates back to the earliest known civilizations of the Indus Valley and Harappa. In a nation with a complex history shaped by cultural encounters and colonization, cultural identity is understood as fluid and evolving, shaped by both history and adapted con tempo to present, contemporary influences. These identities have long been expressed through a rich variety of regional art and craft practices. Artists, dedicated to their traditions, take on the significant challenge of representing this ever-evolving culture.
The "Heera: Reimagining India's Multifaceted Heritage" collection seeks to capture the rich diversity of Indian art and craft practices across its many states and union territories. Each piece narrates his-story, reflecting the region's heritage and the artist's personal expression, presented to an international audience for the first time.
